CONGRATULATIONS ADAM! The Swedish Swimming Federation, Svenska Simförbundet (SS), on April 29 announced a 13-swimmer team (6 females, 7 males) for the 2013 European Junior Championships, in July in Poznan, Poland. Grigull Sets New 1,000-Free Record Courtesy: ICGaels.com Release: Monday 01/28/2013 NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Despite a new Iona record in the 1,000-free, the Iona College men’s swimming and diving team fell to local MAAC rival Manhattan 125-155 on Monday evening at the Hynes Athletics Center Pool. The record was broken by junior Justin Grigull, as he snapped Ace Blair’s 1991 mark of 9:45.44, by clocking in at 9:39.68 and placing first for the team. Grigull also won the 50-free in 21.92 and the 100-free in 47.30.

PAQ athlete Dany Gomez, 16, a junior at Grandview Preparatory School in Boca Raton, was among only 19 swimmers in south Florida to earn this honor. The Scholastic All-American Team is appointed from high school athletes from all over the USA. 1,226 athletes in total were selected, most of them boasting a 4.0 GPA in addition to achieving the required performance standards in the pool. PAQ welcomes with pride Kevin Bandy, of the University of Louisville! Kevin is a Junior who has qualified to compete at the US Olympic Trials in the 200-meter fly with a time of 2:03.34. Congratulations! At the BIG EAST Championships, he competed as a non-scorer in the 500-free, and 100- and 200-fly. He recorded a personal best time in the 100-fly with a 49.96. Anne is a 3-time Olympic swimmer from Sydney, Athens, and Beijing, and a BRONZE MEDALIST in the Women's 200 Breastroke (Athens 2004).
